Description

This is an excellent spice for rubs and marinades on the grill. Recommended using 1 tbsp per pound of ground beef, turkey, falafel, or plant-based grain mixture. Also recommended as a basic spice mixture for all soups, especially lentil soups.

The inspiration for this spice blend comes from my roasted tomato dal soup recipe that I’ve recently added to the festival menu. I decided to try it out on as a marinade for a ground bison burger and it was incredible. For prep, in a bowl mixed one tablespoon of Kerala Spice in evenly with the ground bison, and let it sit out at room temp for about 15 minutes.

I make this spice by dry roasting whole coriander (which is cilantro, if you didn’t know) seeds, cumin and fennel seeds. Then grinding these up, sifting them, and then mixing with a fine turmeric root powder.

Store at room temp with your spices.
